Nearing the end... of spring quarter

Hello all, another short one. I expect we'll have another short devlog the next 2 weeks, and then back to normal. for now though, we have some news regarding art designs as well as map layouts.
Map Stuff
Here is an example of what a potential map layout could look like. The design would consist of a topographical map design with 20~ nodes spread around that would be destination markers the player could travel to. an example of this is shown near the bottom middle where you can see a bright star, which would be a travel node. The idea is that this map would be full of these nodes, in randomized locations, similar to what you see in FTL. The plan is to have the player spawn at the northern most part of the map (or the top) and move downwards to the southernmost point, as if you rotated the FTL map clockwise 90 degrees. This would be to simulate travel across regions while subconsciously suggesting a strong downwards movement.
Joey has been working on a system to randomly place nodes on a map, restrict movement range, and indicate which nodes have already been traveled to. So far it looks really great and I can't wait to see it integrated with the map design and fully fleshed out. Hopefully I'll have some images to share with y'all next week.
New Creature
Tess our wonderful creature design has graced us with yet another new creature concept, the flounder.
As it is a concept so far, there is more to be added but I think he looks really fun and goofy. I'm really loving the design theme we've got so far, it reminds me of how Monster Hunter World designed the icons for the monsters in that game, which I think is a great style.
Anyhoo, that's all for this week. We're in the midst of finals now so progress is gonna slow down more here, and then we should be able to pick back up again during summer. Happy June everyone!
